Hello, friends… and Happy December!
Just a brief note… as I’ve mentioned before, my content has evolved from *just* book content. I’ve become more eclectic and will be continuing on that path.
So I’ve decided it’s time for a refresh! Going forward, this site will have a new identity. The Biblio Blonde is becoming: Life in a Midwest Nest!
There will still be book reviews and lists, and writing content… I’ll keep you posted on any of my writing projects! But there will be more. I want to highlight local life here in the Midwest. I want to share things about home, food, health, my interests and journey toward an empty nest… all of it!
So please stay tuned for what’s to come. You’ll see a few changes immediately and more moving forward.
A couple notes… thebiblioblonde.com will still work for the next few months until the domain expires, but please update your bookmarks.
If you’re already following me on Twitter or Instagram, I’ve kept the same accounts, but the handles on both have changed to: @amidwestnest (Twitter didn’t like the full blog name, too many characters… so I went with a shortened version!)
Thanks for reading… I look forward to a great holiday season with all of you!
Hello, reader friends! I have a question for you: is anyone else tired?
I don’t mean tired as in, I got to bed a little late last night. (Though of course, I did.) I mean your entire soul being tired, because 2020 has just taken its toll on everyone.
When we get to this point, we need self-care. It means cutting out whatever you’re able to, and adding in some things that make you happy.
I made a couple decisions this week along those lines… Continue reading “A Little Holiday Reading”
Looking through my past posts, I realized it has been over a year since I’ve published a Book Notes review! Since I just finished reading a heartwarming novel that I really enjoyed, there’s no time like the present to offer up a new one!
The Printed Letter Bookshop by Katherine Reay is a women’s fiction novel that I was fortunate enough to get from Net Galley last spring… and somehow I hadn’t read it until now! Here’s a description:

Friends, I wanted to share something with you. I’ve decided to step back from blogging for now, so The Biblio Blonde will be on hiatus for the forseeable future. The blog will remain online, so you’ll be able to access any previous posts or reviews, but I won’t be updating it with new content. I’ve also deactivated the Pinterest account and the Facebook page connected with my blog.
Sometimes, even an activity you love wears on you. Between writing, promoting, and reading books on a schedule, I started feeling a little burnt out. When I recently reminded myself that I “should read” it was a bit of a revelation… since when did reading become work? So, it was time to set aside some pieces of my book life that were bringing more stress than enjoyment.
I’m hopeful that after some time away, I can come up with a way to do this that preserves joy, and return with renewed energy and fresh ideas. In the meantime, you can find me on Instagram or Goodreads, as I will still be posting on those accounts. (Links below, or you can access them through the feeds in the sidebar or footer.)
Thank you for your support over the past year… I’ve enjoyed getting to know so many writers and book lovers. I wish you all the best and hope to see you around the community… as always, happy reading!
Hello, friends! I’ve been taking a little break from the blog and social media for lots of holiday preparations. There’s still a few presents to wrap and some cookies to bake.
I’ll be back on the blog again in a few days with some posts to prepare for a brand new year. In the meantime, I wanted to thank you all. This time last year, The Biblio Blonde didn’t exist. In creating it, I’ve read great books, shared my thoughts, and most importantly, made new friends. So thank you for reading… I look forward to interacting with you all so much more in 2019!! Merry Christmas!!
